I was born and raised in Rome (Italy). After college I traveled throughout Europe to pursue my volunteer aspirations by working with different human rights non-profit organizations and unions.
Upon arriving in the United States in 1998, I continued my work with Social Justice and Human Rights committees in San Francisco and Oakland. In January 2008 I funded the North County LGBT Coalition, a San Diego County non-profit organization that caters to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender individuals.
I am also active within the North County community. I am a Commissioner for the City of Oceanside and a member of its historical Neighborhood Association (OCNA).
I currently work as a sales manager and a real estate broker for a private California builder while pursuing my BA in political Science. |

I was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and lived in the area for almost 32 years. I earned my degree in Commercial Art from Missouri Western State University in 1993. Shortly after graduating, I worked for a professional photographer and later worked as a picture framer for 9 ½ years. I had to make a career change due to a movement disorder called Dystonia, and began working as a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer, which I continued for 4 years until my Dystonia forced me from my work.
After coming out at age 32, I met my wife and moved to San Diego in 2003.
After the birth of our daughter and dealing with all of the legal issues that it involved, I wanted to give support to LGBT couples and their rights, focusing on the issues I worked through myself. I joined the Board in 2008 as Marketing Director to use my commercial art talents in the hope of improving the lives of the North County LGBT. |

I am the Prevention Programs Coordinator for the Coalition. I have been working with Vista Community Clinic since 2005 and have since dedicated my time to help those in need in North County.
In addition to my work as an HIV prevention counselor, I am currently working to coordinate various 12-step programs for victims of different types of substance abuse. In addition, I am always working to enhance my experience, growth as an individual, and career through the work I do with the Coalition. I also enjoy sharing my expertise with others, while learning from the human diversity that our community provides. |

I was born in Chicago in 1952. My motivation for activism is based on my experiences growing up transgender in the 1960s. I feel that if my efforts, even in some small way, allows the LGBT youth of today—and the whole LGBT Community—to live less painful and more fulfilling lives, then I will have transcended my own suffering.
I also serve as co-chair of the Social Justice Committee at Chalice UU Congregation in Escondido, working on a variety of social justice issues. I am proud to work with her fellow directors on the Coalition Board. They are a knowledgeable and hard-working group, and I continue to learn from them. It is critical that we establish an open, vibrant LGBT Community here in North County. By the by, I moved to San Diego ten years ago, and have gone completely and irrevocably Californian. |
Carolyn Bolton
Youth Coordinator

A native Californian, in 1975 I moved to Oceanside from the Los Angeles area when I was in high school. Even as a child I felt a tremendous devotion to protect those that were not able stand up for themselves. I have labored against several issues of social injustice with local community organizations and in the work environment. I truly believe in the work the Coalition is doing in North County and the methodology applied to change the LGBT reality.
Although my focus is currently on North County, I more importantly want to be instrumental in bringing an end to discrimination everywhere. I am an advocate for our self-identified LGBT youth, HIV-infected and impact teens. I believe that by working through education and outreach programs we can achieve equal rights, improve learning environments, and strengthen our communities.
I am also a local business owner, work in the field of Natural Medicine as a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, and have a background in Human Resources Management. |

I was born in Argentina in a multicultural, multilingual family. I have traveled extensively thru Europe, Latin America, and USA. As a retired clergy and educator it may be said that my search is to find ways to pay forward the blessings I feel I have received in life. I was attracted to the Coalition’s work in the community because I want to open a dialogue, educate against discrimination, and support diversity by giving a voice that unites and improves the lives of all LGBT organizations; creating an environment of unity for the common good of all.
I particularly like the Coalition’s vision of inclusiveness and tolerance, and the efforts in reaching out to the community to find common interests and understanding. What the Coalition has accomplished in two short years speaks loudly of their commitment. I am more than happy and honored to contribute to the growth of the coalition in any way that I am able. |
