Camp Courage- San Diego Update
During the weekend of April 18 and 19 Courage Campaign has held their third Camp of the year. After Los Angeles and Modesto, San Diego was the latest destination for Camp Courage.
A group from the North County LGBT Coalition harticipated in the weekend session and found the experience of Camp Courage truly empowering.
Overcoming objections over Marriage Equality is just a little aspect of what Camp Courage symbolizes. It is about building community, enhancing the experiences of the grassroot organizations, and reconnecting with the historical movements for Civil, Human Rights and Social Justice.
It was an overall an uplifting experience, inclusive of all the differences that compose the LGBT universe. Camp Courage is not only for those who has just came out but also for the most experienced activists in our community.
As we concluded the weekend, we were already thinking on how to include those that couldn't make it this time and how to share our experiences.
We came up with the idea of a Camp Courage in North County in the imminent future. We all have a personal story to tell, and here in North County we have just begun to tell ours.
